On May 17th I’m going to be presenting a workshop on ‘Stories and Histories’ as part of the Readers’ Day at Runcorn’s Brindley Arts Centre. The event is part of the Halton Literature Festival and my talk is based on my experiences researching the Cain’s book and unpicking the ‘Cain myths’. Here’s the blurb:
Stories and Histories
When the body is gone all that is left are the stories others tell about us. So how do we know who historical figures really were? And what about the rest of us? This workshop explores the ways in which, over time, stories cover up the real you.
Other speakers include Jane Davis, Director of The Reader Organisation, Philip Davis, editor of The Reader magazine and biographer of Bernard Malamud, and Caroline Smailes, author of In Search of Adam.
