As I’ve mentioned before here and here I am going to be talking about “Robert Cain: Irish Slummy, Gentleman Brewer” at the Liverpool: A Sense of Time and Place conference on September 15th at St. George’s Hall, Liverpool. The conference is part of a bigger event featuring a local history fair and guided tours of Liverpool’s historic sites. Here’s the publicity blurb and a link to the conference brochure:
The Big History Show: 800 Years of Liverpool comes to Liverpool Cultural Quarter September 14th – 16th 2007. The three day event includes an exhibition of the work of local cultural heritage organisations, visits to key heritage sites and a major conference entitled ‘Liverpool: a sense of time and place’, at which leading academics will examine the competing and contested images of the city. 2007 is Liverpool’s 800th anniversary, and as part of the celebrations the Liverpool Culture Company, in partnership with National Museums Liverpool, BBC Radio Merseyside, Liverpool Hope University, Liverpool John Moores University and the University of Liverpool are organising the biggest ever local history fair and conference.
