I came across Flock this morning. What is Flock? It’s a web browser based on Firefox that is designed to integrate tightly with blogging sites such as this one, social bookmarking sites such as del.icio.us, and other online services. The whole idea is that the Web becomes something more than just a place we take information from. Here’s a piece about Web 2.0 that explains it quite well; the main point is that geography starts to matter much less than the people and institutions you’re connected to. I suppose that’s fine if you have enough to eat, you’re not living in chaos and you have a roof over your head. But maybe a neworked world will be better equipped to deal with these things.
